COLUMBUS- The Ohio House of Representatives approved a state budget this evening that rewards the rich, while continuing to hurt our schools and communities, and denies Medicaid expansion to hundreds of thousands of working poor throughout Ohio. Following the vote, State Rep. Denise Driehaus issued the following statement:

“The majority has proven themselves to be tone-deaf to will of our constituents.

“Ohioans have overwhelmingly made it clear that they want Medicaid expansion and they want us to invest in schools and communities. The Republicans have drastically cut the Local Government Fund to the point that communities are preparing to layoff firefighters and police officers after having seen this budget.

“As a member of the House Finance and Appropriations Committee, I have been witness to the republicans blatantly ignoring the will of their constituents at the detriment of Ohio’s jobs, health care, and education.”
