Today, State Rep. Tim Ginter (R-Salem) was elected by members of the majority caucus to serve as Speaker Pro Tempore for the Ohio House of Representatives of the 134th General Assembly.
“I am proud to be part of the new upcoming leadership team of a caucus that is standing together as we move forward through challenging times, “I understand we certainly have our work cut out for us, but I intend to lead with integrity and to put Ohioans first in providing solutions to the critical issues our state faces. I also want to thank Speaker Cupp for his strong leadership during the last few months. I anticipate having a great working relationship with him and the rest of our colleagues as we begin to prioritize meaningful and productive policy.”
The election took place at a caucus meeting of returning members and members-elect. Current House Speaker Bob Cupp (R-Lima) was also re-elected as Speaker for the upcoming General Assembly.
Additionally, other members of the House Leadership were elected. They are:
• Majority Floor Leader: Bill Seitz (R-Green Township)
• Assistant Majority Floor Leader: Rick Carfagna (R-Genoa Township)
• Majority Whip: Don Jones (R-Freeport)
• Assistant Majority Whip: Cindy Abrams (R-Harrison)
Terms for the 134th General Assembly begin Jan. 1. Opening day for the new General Assembly will be Monday, Jan. 4.
