State Rep. Tim Ginter (R-Salem) announces the Ohio State Controlling Board recently approved $250,000 for assessment and cleanup work for Columbiana. Ginter applauded the approval of the measure.
“I’m pleased with the work of the Controlling Board for thinking of Columbiana County when it comes to these necessary cleanup projects that need to get done at the local level,” said Ginter.
The request came from the Department of Development through the Abandoned Gas Station Cleanup Grant. The funding assists in service station cleanup efforts that include emptying or removing underground storage tanks, abatement of asbestos, lead or contamination, demolition, and site clearance.
For the Columbiana County Land Reutilization Corporation, the grant dollars will fund underground storage tank removal, hydraulic lift removal, tier I and tier II assessment, and soil/groundwater remediation.
The next State Controlling Board meeting is scheduled for Aug. 16.
