State Rep Thomas E. West (D-Canton) today announced his appointment to the Governor’s Executive Workforce Board, a statewide panel that seeks to engage local communities, state agencies and stakeholders in Ohio to identify ways to prepare and continuously train Ohioans of all ages for the jobs of today and tomorrow.

“I am incredibly honored to receive this appointment to the Governor’s Executive Workforce Board. As industry needs and technology rapidly evolve, we need to make certain that hard working Ohioans are not left behind,” said Rep. West. “I remain hopeful that we can continue to develop workforce solutions to ensure Ohioans can live the American Dream, right here at home.”

The Governor’s Executive Workforce Board advises the Governor and the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation on the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Ohio’s workforce system. Led by Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, the board’s work includes engaging local communities, state agencies and stakeholders across the state to create a consensus report of high-impact, high-scalability workforce recommendations.

Rep. West will serve on the board alongside private-industry business representatives, other members of the Ohio House and Senate, labor representatives and officials from local government, higher education and state agencies.
