Patton Highlights $20 Million in Brownfield Remediation Grants Coming to Cuyahoga County

COLUMBUS – State Representative Tom Patton (R-Strongsville) is pleased to announce that Cuyahoga County has received nearly $20 million as part of the Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program. 

The program authorized $350 million lawmakers included in the state budget last year for brownfield remediation. Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted announced that $60 million in grants have been distributed throughout the state thus far.

“Revitalizing former industrial sites benefits the community and economy, and will help improve the quality of life in neighborhoods across the state. The investment we made in the state budget and today’s announcement will have a positive impact in our area and in communities across the state,” said Patton. 

Throughout Cuyahoga County 13 projects have received funding for revitalization. Those projects are as follows: 

  • MetroHealth – Former Sunoco Service Station granted $113,094 for assessments
  • Opportunity Commerce Park granted $2.1 million for cleanup and remediation
  • Great Lakes Towing Expansion – Assessments of Graving Dock & Nearby Property granted $76,500 for assessments
  • Westinghouse granted $2.6 million for cleanup and remediation
  • The Foundry Project Arts Incubator ACM Removal granted $670,000 for cleanup and remediation
  • Studio West 117 granted $4 million for cleanup and remediation
  • Former Ferry Cap & Set Screw Property Redevelopment granted $4.2 million for cleanup and remediation
  • Great Lakes Brewing Company Scranton Project granted $1.9 million for cleanup and remediation 
  • 884 Parkwood granted $220,000 for assessment
  • Former Nathaniel Hawthorne Elementary Redevelopment granted $1.5 million for cleanup and remediation
  • Lynette Gardens Senior Apartment Homes granted $775,000 for cleanup and remediation
  • Bridgeworks granted $223,500 for cleanup and remediation
  • Empire School granted $1 million for cleanup and remediation
