The funds will help support child care providers navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, recruit employees, and increase access for education. Additionally, $100 million from the federal government were allocated for schools and local districts seeking to maintain vital educational services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Miranda (D-Forest Park) called for action on  House Bill (HB) 266, their legislation to eliminate the statute of limitations for criminal and civil sex crimes, after a federal judge Wednesday dismissed all outstanding Strauss abuse cases against Ohio State University, citing the expired statute of limitations for sexual abuse claims.

Rep. Tavia Galonski (D-Akron) announced today that the state Controlling Board approved several items of note this week, including the allocation of  $175.3 million in federal funds to improve the processing of Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claims to support Ohioans who lost their jobs during the pandemic through no fault of their own, as well as the allocation of $106 million to purchase at-home COVID-19 testing kits, which have been difficult for Ohioans to access due to increased demand for tests and limited supply.

Even though other maps have been presented to the Commission, the Commission itself has neither produced nor worked on one, and co-chair Speaker Bob Cupp (R-Lima) has not given a date that the Commission will propose a map for review.
