COLUMBUS— State Rep. Tavia Galonski (D-Akron) issued a statement today following the federal charge of Speaker of the House Larry Householder (R-Glenford) in a $60 million bribery, racketeering case.
“Yesterday was a sad day for Ohio. Larry Householder must resign and we need a new Speaker so we can get back to work for the people of Ohio. Another Republican Speaker of the House being investigated by the FBI is an unnecessary disruption from the very important business facing the Ohio House of Representatives right now. Ohioans have been under one party rule for decades and what we are seeing are the consequences of imbalanced and unfair representation. With deeply gerrymandered districts, Republican politicians feel invincible. And too often, get away with too much. House Bill (H.B.) 6 was a problematic bill and a difficult vote. I supported H.B. 6 for the 4,000 jobs that produce clean energy. Their jobs represent hardworking Ohioans and their families who just want to live the Ohio promise; that they can live, work, and retire securely.”
