Rep. Galonski Calls for Action to Ensure Ohio's Rail Safety Following East Palestine Disaster
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Tavia Galonski (D-Akron), along with members of the House Democratic Caucus, today sent a letter to the Ohio House Finance Committee and the Ohio House Transportation Subcommittee of Finance suggesting a series of amendments to the State Transportation Budget following the tragic events in East Palestine.
“Like countless other Ohioans, I have watched this catastrophe unfold for nearly two weeks, and each day I grow more and more concerned,” said Rep. Galonski. “As elected officials, we have a responsibility to enact reforms that will make our railways and our communities safer, and the time to act is now.”
The Ohio House Finance Committee is scheduled to meet next on Tuesday, February 21st and the biennial Transportation Budget must be passed by Friday, March 31st.
