Rep. Galonski announces public redistricting hearings
Rep. Tavia Galonski (D-Akron) announced that the Ohio Redistricting Commission will be holding one of its 10 regional hearings at the University of Akron on Friday, August 27, at 9:30 a.m. Her announcement comes following Thursday’s release of 2020 U.S. Census data, which Ohio University has collected and transformed into a database to guide the redistricting process. The hearings are an opportunity for state officials to hear from their constituents as the Redistricting Commission and the Ohio General Assembly begin redrawing Congressional and state legislative district maps.
“This is a historic time in Ohio,” said Rep. Galonski. “With the release of the database from Ohio University, we can begin the redistricting process. I encourage all Ohioans to join us in the process by attending one or more of the public redistricting hearings.”
