Rep. Galonski announces $84.7 million for infrastructure funding, new training program to increase lead testing for at risk youth
Rep. Tavia Galonski (D-Akron) announced today that the state Controlling Board approved several items of note this week, including $84.7 million for various highway and road construction projects across the state.
The Controlling Board also approved $200,000 in each of the next two years to develop a comprehensive lead testing training program for pediatricians in Ohio. The Ohio Healthy Homes and Lead Poisoning Prevention Program will increase blood lead testing rates of at-risk Ohio children.
“In order to protect our children from lead poisoning, it is crucial that Ohio’s pediatricians know how to identify at-risk individuals,” said Rep. Galonski. “Early detection of lead levels in the blood through increased testing will prevent lead poisoning in children throughout Ohio.”
