State Rep. Tavia Galonski (D-Akron) today announced that A. Schrader’s Son of Ohio Warehouse was awarded $250,000 in Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credits from the Ohio Department of Development to repair original historic windows and preserve interior historic features of the facility.
“The Schrader warehouse is a staple of Akron’s strong industrial history,” said Rep. Galonski. “I am pleased that it will be restored and repurposed to continue to serve our community.”
The building was originally home to A. Schrader’s Son Inc. of Ohio, the company which developed the Schrader Valve, which is used in nearly all automobile and bicycle tires to this day. Built in 1926, the warehouse will serve as a self-storage facility once the restoration is complete.
