COLUMBUS- State Rep. Richard Dell’Aquila (D-Seven Hills) today announced his support of Cleveland City Council’s decision to earmark $10 million to prepare local residents for workforce programs.

“Workforce development is so absolutely critical to economic development. It is gratifying to see this being highlighted by Cleveland City Council, as I am also focused on the same issue in the state legislature. Workforce development encourages employers to locate and remain in our region, thereby increasing financial stability and housing demand by providing our citizens with valuable skills, careers, and greater lifetime earning potential. Workforce development is a ‘win-win’ for everyone on so many levels," said Rep. Dell’Aquila.

The legislation – which would set aside funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) for Ohio Means Jobs Cleveland – would increase and promote workforce participation in construction; notably by expanding apprenticeship opportunities and providing both career development and job training. An estimated 3,000 workers will be able to enter the workforce programming.
