Rep. Monique Smith announces $61,181 in new Ohio Arts Council grants for House District 16

State budget helps secure $18.2 million in arts grants

COLUMBUS – State Representative Monique Smith (D-Fairview Park) announced $61,181 in grants from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC) to support sustainability, arts access, statewide arts service organizations, and individual artists in House District 16. In total, the OAC approved $18,246,306 to directly fund the arts in all 88 counties.  

“I am pleased to bring this money back to the district so that we can continue to strengthen the arts,” said Rep. Monique Smith. “Building up the arts is critical to enhancing our community ties, as well as for our district to thrive economically and educationally.”

With the passage of the 2022-2023 budget and the $32.9 million in funding for the OAC, Rep. Monique Smith helped secure state funds through agency grants to the following House District 16 arts programs: 

$ 36,114 for BAYArts in Bay Village
$8,897 for The Movement Project in Fairview Park
$2,909 for Schuhplattler und Trachtenverein Bavaria in North Olmsted
$3,037 for Viva Bavaria in North Olmsted
$2,909 for Abrepaso Flamenco in Rocky River 
$3,891 for Alice Blumenfeld in Rocky River
$3,230 for Carolyn Farrell Foundation in Westlake
$3,101 for Good Company in Westlake
