Rep. Monique Smith (D-Fairview Park) hosted a virtual stop on the Ohio House Democrats’ Ohio Promise: Opportunity Agenda Tour August 19 featuring Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) as a guest. The event was part of a statewide series of town halls where local lawmakers discuss statewide issues like jobs and economic development, education, protecting healthcare access, and the freedom to vote. Smith’s event also gave citizens the opportunity to ask questions and offer input on ways to address the issues facing their communities.
“As State Representative for House District 16, it is always my priority to stay connected with the residents of my district,” said Rep. Smith. “That’s why I was so happy to see many active constituents my Zoom town hall last night. In addition to sharing updates on my work at the statehouse, it was great way to hear directly from them about their questions, comments and concerns. Their insight is always valued and it will continue to guide the work I do for them.”
Rep. Smith discussed the Democrats’ Opportunity Agenda to grow good paying jobs, strengthen small businesses, and protect the health and safety of all Ohioans. The town hall also highlighted the ongoing redistricting process and proposed changes to Ohio’s election laws, which will be key topics in the Ohio Legislature this fall.
