State Rep. Mike Loychik of Bazetta, R-63rd, has introduced a bill to reduce term limits for Ohio school board members from four years to two years. Loychik introduced the bill after hearing concerns from constituents about “a lack of accountability” for board members, according to a Thursday news release. The bill is intended to give local citizens more power to “hold their elected school board members responsible for their actions.”

“Voters should have the chance to hold reckless school board members accountable more frequently, and the best way to do that is limit their term from four years to two years,” Loychik is quoted in the release. “The community will have the opportunity to make their voice heard at the ballot box, and my hope is that this will produce better candidates; who overall make important decisions regarding our children in their day to day life while attending school.”
