Ohio House Passes Clinical Teaching Subsidy Reform Act

State Representative Tom Young (R-Washington Twp.) today announced that the Ohio House of Representatives passed House Bill 319 – legislation to modernize and improve the distribution of state funding that supports the clinical education of Ohio’s future physicians.
“House Bill 319 ensures greater accountability and transparency for Ohio’s medical school funding while giving Ohio students first priority,” said Young. “Ultimately, HB 319 ensures that taxpayer dollars are being used efficiently and transparently, strengthening Ohio’s healthcare workforce.”
The Clinical Teaching Subsidy provides financial support to public medical schools and affiliated teaching institutions that deliver hands-on clinical education.
Key components of House Bill 319 include:
- Increases transparency in how clinical teaching funds are distributed
- Provides funding to public medical institutions that support the demand for clinical instruction and education for physicians
- Supports Ohio’s public institutions of higher education for medical education
- Strengthens Ohio’s ability to recruit, educate, and retain physicians in our state
House Bill 319 now moves to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.
