COLUMBUS— Reps. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) and Mike Sheehy’s (D-Oregon) bill honoring Officer Anthony Dia, who was killed in the line of duty July 4, 2020, advanced today during a committee vote. House Bill (HB) 19 received unanimous support by the House Transportation and Public Safety Committee.
“Officer Dia tragically sacrificed his life for our community, and our bill recognizes his sacrifice,” said Rep. Sobecki. “I’m pleased that our bill honoring Officer Dia was passed out of committee.”
“I am grateful that House Bill 19 was passed out of committee today, and I thank my colleagues for allowing Representative Sobecki and I to honor the commitment Officer Dia made to protect and serve the citizens of Toledo,” said Rep. Sheehy.
HB 19 designates a portion of Alexis Rd near the Home Deport where Officer Dia was killed the “Officer Anthony Dia Memorial Highway.” HB 19 now awaits a vote on the House Floor.
