COLUMBUS – State Representative Marilyn John (R-Richland County) applauds more state-funding coming to Richland County through the new Ohio Crime Lab Efficiency Program.

The purpose of the program, spearheaded by Governor DeWine, is to eliminate evidence-processing backlogs and increase the speed at which criminal evidence is analyzed in crime laboratories across the state.

“It has always remained a top legislative priority of mine to continue funding our first responders and the state funding provided by the Ohio Crime Lab Efficiency Program will further ensure that crime stays out of our communities,” said John.

The Mansfield Division of Police Forensic Science Laboratory will be receiving $250,000 as a part of the grant program. This funding will address current and anticipated backlogs of digital and drug evidence with new digital evidence processing software and controlled substance instrumentation.

This funding was made possible of the American Rescue Plan and will go a long way to curb violent crime in our communities throughout the state.
