COLUMBUS – The Ohio Democratic Women’s Legislative Caucus (ODWLC) Chair State Rep. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) ushered in Women’s History Month by highlighting the progress women have made over the past year, as well as the many challenges and inequalities they continue to face.

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Joe Miller (D-Lorain) and Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) today filed legislation that would provide tax relief to thousands of Ohioans whose unemployment benefits were issued late due to system errors from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS). 

COLUMBUS —Today, Rep. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) issued a statement after the Ohio House approved an amendment to House Bill (HB) 93 which would make several changes to the filing requirements for the primary election. 

COLUMBUS – Today, State Reps. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) and Jeffrey Crossman (D-Parma) issued statements after the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services (ODJFS) announced it will offer credit monitoring to thousands of Ohioans who had their identities stolen in relation to their Ohio Unemployment Claims. The representatives acknowledged the necessity of the credit monitoring, but called for additional cybersecurity measures to be taken to protect Ohioans’ personal information. 

COLUMBUS – House Assistant Minority Leader Thomas West (D-Canton), president of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus (OLBC), and Rep. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo), chair of the Ohio Democratic Women’s Legislative Caucus, today introduced House Bill (HB) 544 to move the 2022 primary election date to June 7  in light of the uncertainty surrounding Ohio’s new congressional and state legislative maps. Both sets of maps have been ruled unconstitutional by the Ohio Supreme Court and must be redrawn. The bill would also move the filing deadline for legislative candidates to March 3. 

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) today issued a statement following the news that Intel plans to invest more than $20 billion to build two factories in Ohio by 2025, employing 3,000 workers at an average salary of $135,000 per year. Additionally, the investment is expected to create 7,000 construction jobs and 10,000 indirect jobs.

COLUMBUS –State Reps. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) and Jeff Crossman (D-Parma) renewed calls to pass House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 38 to encourage semiconductor production in the U.S. following reports that Ohio may be in the running to land a major semiconductor factory. HCR 38 urges Congress to address the shortage of semiconductors in the short-term and appropriate billions of dollars to encourage domestic production of these computer-chips.  

COLUMBUS – Rep. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) announced that the state Controlling Board approved several major items this week, including $42 million in American Rescue Plan funds to aid with vaccine distribution efforts, vaccine education, mobile vaccination units and data management. Ohio has faced a surge in demand for COVID-19 vaccines since the onset of the omicron variant. 

COLUMBUS – Today, State Rep. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) announced the application process for the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Student Aid Program has opened. Qualified institutions with CDL programs can apply at https://www.ohiohighered.org/cdl starting Jan. 7, 2022 through Feb. 18, 2022.
