COLUMBUS — State Rep. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) issued a statement after a Hamilton County judge temporarily blocked Ohio’s six-week abortion ban for 14 days.
“Democrats have always said that banning access to healthcare is unconstitutional and would have dangerous consequences,” said Rep. Sobecki. “Since the 6-week ban was officially implemented, a 12-year old rape survivor was forced to leave the state to get an abortion, and expecting women whose pregnancies took a dangerous turn were put at risk because they could not obtain the healthcare they needed. Forcing someone to give birth is cruel and inhumane. The fight to restore reproductive freedom for all Ohioans isn’t over with this temporary pause, there is still more work to do.”
