State Rep. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) today voted in favor of House Bill (HB) 2 to expand broadband access to underserved Ohioans. HB 2 is based on a long-held Democratic priority that would create the Ohio Residential Broadband Expansion Program to bring broadband access to unserved residential households in both rural and urban areas of the state.
“Reliable access to the internet is now essential for every-day life, and the COVID-19 pandemic has helped prove that point,” said Rep. Sobecki. “Thousands of Ohioans, including some Toledoans and our rural communities do not have access to reliable internet. Our Ohio Promise means that we work for our constituents and the Broadband Expansion Program is designed to do just that.”
HB 2 now moves to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.
