Rep. Sobecki announces more than $21.8 million in grant dollars for Brownfield Remediation Projects in Lucas County
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) today announced more than $21.8 million in grants for Brownfield Remediation projects in Lucas County was awarded by the Ohio Department of Development. The Brownfield Remediation grant program was created through the Operating Budget.
“I am pleased that projects across Lucas County have been awarded these grants to clean up unused brownfields,” said Rep. Sobecki. “The rescued and restored sites will lay the groundwork for new economic development and help secure jobs for our region.”
The Lucas County projects receiving grants are:
$9,297,996 for the Toledo Zoo;
$1,276,796 for the demolishment and redevelopment of former Sears Department store at 3408 W Central Ave;
$52,125 for remediation activities to prepare for redevelopment at the Elm Warehouse site;
$393,750 for remediation activities to prepare the Nicholas Building for redevelopment;
$117,562 for asbestos removal at 3210 Monroe St;
$81,277 for assessment at South Ave and Kuhlman Dr.;
$653,038 for remediation activities prior to renovation at the Toledo Innovation Center;
$9,955,326 for remediation activities at the Toledo Trade Center to prepare for redevelopment.
