Rep. Sobecki announces $62 million in funding for COVID-19 vaccine distribution, education
COLUMBUS – Rep. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) announced that the state Controlling Board approved several major items this week, including $42 million in American Rescue Plan funds to aid with vaccine distribution efforts, vaccine education, mobile vaccination units and data management. Ohio has faced a surge in demand for COVID-19 vaccines since the onset of the omicron variant.
“As we enter the third year of the global pandemic, people are tired but it is important to stay vigilant and get vaccinated. The increased vaccination rate is keeping our economy open. Through the American Rescue Plan, President Biden and Democrats are protecting Ohioans and putting the country back to work,” said Rep. Sobecki
The Controlling Board also approved $20 million in COVID-19 relief funds to support educational programs for schools and families during the pandemic.
Additional items to improve the health and safety of Ohioans included:
· $10 million to the Food Service Program Assistance fund to support food service inspections.
· $7.5 million to help address staffing shortages in long-term care facilities caused by the latest surge in COVID-19 cases.
