State Reps. Brigid Kelly (D-Cincinnati) and Kent Smith (D-Euclid) will join Center for American Progress and Policy Matters Ohio for a news conference on Tuesday, April 3 at 1:00 p.m. in the Harding Senate Press Room to discuss public employee overtime wage protection legislation.

In 2016, the U.S. Department of Labor strengthened an existing rule requiring employers to pay public workers overtime when they work more than 40 hours a week. The rule directly benefited an estimated 12.1 million American workers, including 351,000 Ohioans.Unfortunately, Republican leaders effectively moved to block the Obama-era overtime rule and the Trump administration refuses to appeal. Now, Ohio workers are losing more than $123,000 in wages every day, which is over $45 million in lost wages each year.
