COLUMBUS – State Rep. Karen Brownlee (D-Symmes Twp) today released the following statement concerning Governor Mike DeWine’s decision to send 150 National Guard members to support the District of Columbia National Guard: 

BOSTON - State Rep. Karen Brownlee (D-Symmes Twp) today stood in solidarity with Democratic members of the Texas State Senate and dozens of lawmakers from other states in Boston, MA denouncing the undemocratic attempt by Texas Republicans to unfairly redraw the state's congressional maps to favor Republicans candidates ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. 

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Karen Brownlee (D-Symmes Twp) remains steadfast in her opposition to override a school district property tax levy restriction provision vetoed in House Bill 96 (the state operating budget). Line-item 66 would eliminate several types of levies, limiting the choices voters have in how to support their schools and local governments, and would not provide real property tax relief to Ohioans. Real property tax relief is one of the most pressing needs for everyday Ohioans. House Democrats are ready and willing to work together to get that done.

COLUMBUS — Members of the House Democratic Caucus today released the following statement concerning Imam Ayman Soliman, a former chaplain at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, who was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on July 9th after his asylum status was revoked on June 3rd:

Karen Brownlee (D-Symmes Twp) today voted “NO” on House Bill (HB) 96, the Republican-crafted state operating budget, citing cruel and chaotic cuts and its abject failure to invest in children, public education, healthcare, and basic services – all while shoveling billions to the wealthy and well-connected. 

COLUMBUS - The Ohio Jewish Caucus today released the following statement concerning the criminal charges filed Friday against a man who allegedly threatened Congressman Max Miller and his family early Thursday morning in Rocky River, OH.

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Karen Brownlee (D-Symmes Twp) today denounced the recent politically motivated assassinations of former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, who were fatally shot in their homes on Saturday, June 14th. Another attempted attack also critically injured Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, at their residence. Today, Cincinnati Congressman Greg Landsman announced his name was found as part of evidence collected by the FBI during the search for the suspect in Minnesota accused of murdering and seriously injuring the lawmakers.

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Karen Brownlee (D-Symmes Twp) Wednesday voted against concurrence with the Ohio Senate’s version of the state operating budget, House Bill (HB) 96. House Democrats remain deeply concerned about the budget’s failure to fully fund public education, healthcare, childcare, and property tax relief.
