Rep. Miranda urges Attorney General Yost to launch Ticketmaster investigation
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) today sent a letter to Attorney General Dave Yost urging him to investigate whether Ticketmaster violated any consumer protection or anti-trust laws in its chaotic Taylor Swift concert tour presale.
“Large corporations like Ticketmaster should not be able to abuse their power and take advantage of Ohio consumers for their own personal profit,” wrote Rep. Miranda. “Since Ticketmaster is a dominant force in the primary ticket market, their ticketing practices will continue to impact Ohioans for any future shows that have high demand. Ohioans who save up their hard-earned money and spend hours in line for tickets to these shows deserve to know if Ticketmaster is honoring the assurances made to them.”
The U.S. Department of Justice has opened an anti-trust investigation into Ticketmaster. Attorneys General in North Carolina and Tennessee have also announced similar investigations.
