State Representative Jeff Crossman (D-Parma) and Rep. Adam Holmes (R-Nashport) today introduced legislation that would allow prosecution of persons using unmanned drones to violate a person’s privacy. 

COLUMBUS—While Ohioans were sleeping, House Democratic lawmakers were offering two amendments on the House floor late Thursday and early Friday that would have prohibited the sale, display, possession or distribution of Confederate memorabilia at county and independent fairs, following a similar rule instituted by the Ohio State Fair in 2015. The motions came during floor debate on House Bill 665, which made several other changes to laws on local and county fairs. The U.S. Marines, U.S. Navy and NASCAR recently announced similar bans on Confederate memorabilia. Republicans rejected the amendments largely along party lines, voting instead to protect the sale of the Confederate flag. 

COLUMBUS – State Representatives Crossman (D-Parma), Holmes (R-Nashport) and Butler (R-Oakwood) unveiled legislation yesterday that addresses Ohio’s opioid crisis.

COLUMBUS– State Representatives John Rogers (D-Mentor-On-The-Lake) and Jeff Crossman (D-Parma) yesterday gave sponsor testimony before the Ohio House Insurance Committee on House Bill (HB) 589, to create the Business Interruption Insurance Coverage Act. This legislation would require certain business interruption insurance coverage policies to cover losses due to the COVID-19 public health emergency.

COLUMBUS—Rep. Jeff Crossman (D-Parma) today issued a statement as the Ohio House passed Senate Bill 310, which would distribute $350 million in federal CARES Act funds to aid coronavirus response in Ohio communities. If the Governor signs the bill in its current form, the city of Parma would receive approximately $2.3 million in pandemic related funding. 

COLUMBUS— Rep. Jeff Crossman (D-Parma) issued a statement today as Republican lawmakers voted to fast-track legislationthat does little to prepare the state’s Boards of Elections to safely conduct a presidential election amid the worst global pandemic in more than a century.

COLUMBUS- State Reps. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) and Jeff Crossman (D-Parma) today introduced House Bill (HB) 686 to waive end-of-year state testing for the 2020-2021 school year. Due to the uncertainty for the upcoming school year, the bill requires the Ohio Department of Education to seek a federal waiver for testing requirements and hold districts harmless regarding the State Report Card.

COLUMBUS— State Rep. Jeffrey Crossman (D-Parma) today voted against Sub. House Bill (HB) 606, which restricts the ability of Ohioans to seek damages for negligent exposure to the COVID-19 virus. 

COLUMBUS—State Reps. Erica C. Crawley (D-Columbus) and Jeff Crossman (D-Parma) today sent a letter to Gov. Mike DeWine calling for further action to limit the spread of COVID-19 in Ohio’s overcrowded jails and prisons.

COLUMBUS- State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) today announced that House Bill (HB) 595, her jointly sponsored legislation with Rep. Jeffrey A. Crossman (D-Parma) to require higher education institutions to release student transcripts regardless of student-owned institutional debt, received a first hearing in the Ohio House Higher Education Committee.
