COLUMBUS—State Representative Jeff Crossman (D-Parma) today released a statement following the dangerous and partisan attack on Dr. Amy Acton by House Republicans:

“If our colleagues really wanted to undo the stay at home orders they could have used the existing law to do that. Instead they rushed new legislation to the floor with zero real discussion and passed a bill that does exactly the opposite of what needs to be done,” Rep. Crossman said.  “While I support legislative input on the stay at home orders, today’s legislation does exactly the opposite of what’s needed and actually limits legislative oversight by giving authority to an unelected committee.”

The amendment was attached to Senate Bill 1 in today’s State and Local Government Committee meeting without advance notice or any public testimony and was discharged from committee on a party-line vote.

The amended bill now goes to the Senate for a vote.
