This legislation, jointly sponsored by Rep. Click and Rep. Al Cutrona (R-Canfield), would require, rather than permit, school districts in Ohio to enact policies authorizing religious released time instruction. As more and more parents are interested in enrolling their children in religious released time courses, it only makes sense to prompt their school districts to approve policies for doing so. The bill makes no changes to the existing criteria for religious released time courses, which can be viewed in the bill’s official LSC (Legislative Service Commission) analysis.
We expect sponsor testimony on HB 445 to take place in the House Primary and Secondary Education Committee on Tuesday, April 23rd. As always, that testimony will be recorded live and archived at https://ohiochannel.org/.
