HB 339, which Rep. Click introduced in December, underwent a proponent-testimony hearing in the House Primary & Secondary Education Committee on February 13th. This hearing went exceptionally well with over 50 people submitting testimony in support of the bill and over half of those appearing in-person to present directly to the committee. Supporters of this educational freedom bill included school-administrators, pastors, and devoted school students alongside their parents from all over the state, from various backgrounds and religious beliefs. Those in attendance completely filled both the committee room and an additional overflow room; an encouraging turnout for a worthy cause.
To recap, the goal of HB339 is to expand true school-choice to non-public non-charter schools which were excluded from the otherwise excellent Ed-Choice Voucher expansion passed under HB 33 in 2023.
Rep. Click and many committee members received an overwhelming amount of support from residents of the 88th district and citizens from across the state regarding this bill, and we would be remiss not to thank each of you for taking the time to reach out and share your support!
