Pavliga Issues Statement on Governor DeWine's State of the State

State Rep. Gail Pavliga (R-Portage County) has issued the following statement regarding Gov. Mike DeWine's State of the State address:

"The governor dedicated a significant portion of his speech to address mental illness across Ohio. As many know for Portage County, this has been a serious issue. Suicides, drug abuse and the pandemic have heightened the seriousness of this issue.

“As Vice Chair of the House Behavioral Health and Recovery Supports Committee, I have been hard at work to provide solutions to addressing mental health. This has included legislation for the implementation of the 9-8-8 suicide prevention hotline, another to establish a study commission to find and address solutions on adverse childhood experiences (ACES) and a bipartisan bill addressing the opioid crisis.

"Be assured, I will continue to push these bills through the General Assembly to get it to the governor as we both have the mutual thought to get mental health initiatives signed into law for the betterment of parents and children throughout the state."
