Pavliga Appointed Chair of House Behavioral Health Committee

State Rep. Gail Pavliga (R-Portage County) announces she has been appointed by Ohio House Speaker Jason Stephens (R-Kitts Hill) as Chair of the House Behavioral Health Committee for the 135th General Assembly.

“I’m very thankful to Speaker Stephens for his confidence in me to lead this committee for the next two years,” said Pavliga. “The issues of behavioral and mental health are something I take seriously as it’s been a focus of mine within both my public official and professional careers.”

Dr. Pavliga received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Akron. She also received a Master’s Degree in Individual/Family Studies/Counseling and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology/Science both from Kent State University. She was also a college professor for over twenty years. Additionally, she is a small business owner as a counselor. 

“Representative Pavliga is a highly-qualified professional and public official to serve as Chair of the Behavioral Health Committee,” said Speaker Stephens. “I believe she’ll bring the knowledge and experience our state needs to handle these important issues for this General Assembly.”

During the previous General Assembly, Pavliga served as Vice Chair of the Behavioral Health Committee and as a member of the Higher Education and Career Readiness and the Primary and Secondary Education Committees.
