State Rep. Gail Pavliga (R-Portage County) announces the Ohio State Controlling Board approved measures today for local Portage County funding for Northeast Ohio College of Medicine projects. Pavliga touted the approval of the initiatives.

“I applaud today’s approval of these three measures that prioritize our educational institutions in Portage County, which will advance restoration of Northeast Ohio College of Medicine’s facilities in Rootstown,” said Dr. Pavliga.

The following Northeast Ohio College of Medicine projects were approved by the Board at today’s meeting:

  • $49,500 for a study to propose an efficient campus security system;
  • $88,088 for NEOMED’s restoration of buildings on campus; and
  • $48,185 for construction replacement of a research laboratory facility.

The measures were requests put in by NEOMED for various restoration updates to the campus. Last month, Pavliga announced other funding projects for KSU that were approved at the previous Controlling Board meeting.

The next State Controlling Board meeting is scheduled for Aug. 16.
