State Rep. Gail Pavliga (R-Portage County) announces funding for a Brownfield Remediation Program project coming to Portage County. Pavliga applauded the initiative for the region.

“This project is going to provide assessment and remediation for this site,” Pavliga said. “Our hope is that this will result in future development for Ravenna and that it can have some positive impact within the community.”

The funding for the Brownfield Remediation Program was provided through Pavliga’s support of last year’s state operating budget, which passed in the General Assembly and was signed into law. The legislation included a total of $350 million for brownfield remediation across the state.

The initiative includes $91,700 in funding to the former operations site of the Portage County Engineer to assess the property for future development after passing certain standards.

The assessment project is located at 643 Cleveland Road in Ravenna.
