State Rep. Emilia Sykes (D-Akron) today announced the release of $100,000 in state funding to Northeast Ohio Psychiatric Institute in Akron to continue to provide clinical coverage to Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare.
“These state dollars will help some of Ohio’s most vulnerable individuals get into treatment and access much needed health care services,” said Sykes. “I’m pleased to see the state invest in the health and well-being of those in the Akron community, and I look forward to the relief this will bring to those in need and their families.”
The release of funding will allow Northeast Ohio Psychiatric Institute to continue to provide essential health care services to patients, such as patient evaluation upon admittance, completion of treatment plan and Initial Psychiatric Assessment, review admission orders, physical exams and to refer patients as needed.
Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare is one of six Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services psychiatric hospitals across the state. These facilities provide short-term, intensive treatment to patients in both inpatient and community-supported environments, and also deliver comprehensive care to patients committed by criminal courts.
