Rep. Sykes announces House passage of over $2 billion capital reappropriations bill
COLUMBUS– State Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes (D-Akron) last week announced the Ohio House passage of House Bill (HB) 597, which reappropriates over $2 billion in capital funds for the FY 2023-24 biennium.
HB 597 includes a provision that reappropriates $200,000 to “Growing for Good”, located in Summit County, for their food bank and food distribution program in the Akron-Canton area.
“I am thrilled to announce the re-appropriation of over $8.8 million for the benefit of Summit County residents, said Sykes, These funds will allow for economic development, job growth, and a higher quality of life and I am proud deliver meaningful results to our community.”
Other organizations that funds will be reappropriated to include, but are not limited to, the Akron Children’s Hospital ($225,000), Akron Art Museum ($150,000), Grace House Akron, Inc. ($50,000), and the Summit County Battered Womens Shelter ($400,000).
HB 597 was passed unanimously in the House and now heads to the Senate for further consideration.
