COLUMBUS – State Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes (D-Akron) announced the return of the Ohio Sales and Use Tax Holiday starting August 5th and ending on August 7th, 2022. The sales tax holiday was made permanent in 2019, and provides an opportunity to families to save money for back to school shopping and other necessities.

“As costs have risen due to supply chain issues, I am pleased to have previously voted for this sales tax holiday that will allow Ohio families to purchase necessary school supplies while getting a much needed break,” said Rep. Sykes. “This sales tax holiday is just one of the ways we can help families deal with the rising costs for goods.”

Items that are exempt from sales tax during the year tax holiday include:

·         Clothing (individual items under $75),

·         School supplies (under $20), and

·         School instructional materials (under $20)
