Rep. Forhan on Republicans' Attempt to Revive August Elections After Republicans Eliminated August Elections Last General Assembly

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Elliot Forhan (D-South Euclid) today released the following statement prior to House Bill (HB) 144 receiving its first hearing in the House Government Oversight Committee this week: 

“Last General Assembly, Republicans said August elections were unnecessary. But now, because an August election would benefit their agenda, they want to bring them back. HB 144 is just another attempt by out-of-touch politicians to take more power away from Ohio voters,” said Rep. Forhan. “It is undemocratic and unfair to force Ohioans to fund a special election, when its true purpose is to push a political agenda that takes away Ohioans’ voice and our right to decide what matters most. ”

HB 144 has two hearings this week:
