Prescription eyewear is the only prescribed medical product sold in traditional retail stores that is taxed in Ohio. Taxpayers would save an estimated $23 million annually from the sales tax repeal on prescribed eyewear.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Derek Merrin (R-Monclova Township) introduced House Bill 101, known as the “Epinephrine Accessibility Act,” which seeks to make epinephrine auto-injectors more affordable and accessible. National media has reported on the sky-rocketing cost for EpiPens, produced by Mylan Pharmaceuticals, which is reported to control about 90 percent of the epinephrine auto-injector market. The price for EpiPens has increased about 500 percent in recent years, standing at a $600 retail price.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Derek Merrin (R-Monclova Township) has introduced the “Fuel Tax Transparency Act” that would require a sticker to be placed on all retail fuel pumps displaying federal and state fuel tax rates.  Ohio currently imposes a 28-cents-per-gallon tax on gasoline and diesel. The federal tax rate is 18.4 cents per gallon on gasoline and a 24.4 cents for diesel fuel.
