COLUMBUS—Rep. Catherine Ingram (D-Cincinnati) issued a statement as two bills that would allow for more House business to be conducted virtually and to require face masks during House committee meetings and floor sessions received their first hearings in the House Thursday.

State Reps. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) and Catherine Ingram (D-Cincinnati) announced the introduction of their emergency legislation, House Bill (H.B.) 32, to halt the collection of student and medical debt owed to state higher education institutions and hospitals operated by those institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

State Rep. Catherine Ingram (D-Cincinnati) today expressed concern and disdain for the recent appointment of state Sen. Steve Huffman (R-Tipp City) to serve as committee chair for the Senate Health committee. 

Today, Ohio Legislative Black Caucus President State Rep. Thomas West (D-Canton) was sworn in by Ohio Supreme Court Justice Melody Stewart, followed by the following officers: State Reps. Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland), Catherine Ingram (D-Cincinnati), Erica Crawley (D-Columbus), Sedrick Denson (D-Cincinnati), and State Sens. Hearcel Craig (D-Columbus), and Vernon Sykes (D-Akron). The change in leadership is also accompanied by the appointment of a new director of the caucus, Tony Bishop. The new leadership team briefly outlined a plan to better engage Black Ohioans and build the necessary coalitions across the state to improve the everyday lives of all Ohioans. The new leadership team issued the statements below following their swearing-in.

COLUMBUS – State Representative Catherine Ingram (D-Cincinnati) today announced the introduction of the $2.1 billion capital appropriations budget for fiscal years 2021-2022 as an amendment during the Senate Bill (SB) 310 conference committee. The capital appropriations budget includes $186.5 million for community projects, a number of which that will benefit Hamilton County including:

Ingram (D-Cincinnati) todaysent a letter to 42 Republican House members who last week, without evidence, urged the Ohio Attorney General to join the Texas Attorney General’s attack on the democratic presidential election result. 

COLUMBUS— State Rep. Catherine Ingram (D-Cincinnati) today provided sponsor testimony in the House Civil Justice Committee for House Bill (HB) 622, legislation that would suspend child support obligations during the COVID-19 emergency. HB 622 will require the obligor seeking relief from a child support order to notify the child support enforcement agency and provide proof of the loss of income. It will also require the child support enforcement agency to conduct an investigation to confirm the obligor’s inability or ability to fulfill their child support obligation.

COLUMBUS— State Reps. Catherine Ingram (D-Cincinnati) and Jessica Miranda (D-Forest Park) today provided sponsor testimony in the House Civil Justice Committee for House Bill (HB) 597, emergency legislation that would halt the collection of student and medical debt owed to state higher education institutions and hospitals operated by those institutions. This bill will also freeze the accrual of interest and collection of fees on all outstanding debt owed to the above entities.
