State Rep. Brigid Kelly (D-Cincinnati) today announced Senate Bill (SB) 26, which includes a provision she sponsored to eliminate Ohio sales taxes on feminine hygiene products, commonly known as the Pink Tax, was signed by Governor DeWine into law. She released the following statement:

“I am appreciative of the Governor for signing this bill making medically necessary products more equitably accessible to women and girls in our state. This is an important step towards ensuring that everyone who has a period is able to lead a healthful life and fully participate in their communities as they choose.”

State Reps. Sedrick Denson (D-Cincinnati), Catherine Ingram (D-Cincinnati), Brigid Kelly (D-Cincinnati) and Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) held a community town hall last Thursday as part of the Ohio Promise Town Hall Tour, a statewide legislative town hall series hosted by House Democratic members. The purpose of the tour is to hear from constituents in their districts about their most pressing concerns, answer questions, and discuss the state budget, bipartisan priorities and a number of recent Democratic-led, legislative wins for working people and families.

“This was a really important evening for the community to come together,” said Rep. Kelly. “I’m grateful for those who shared their concerns with us and for the opportunity to discuss issues that matter most to you and your family.”

“We are looking forward to hearing more about what issues are important to you, and to have the opportunity to discuss the state budget and other legislation that is currently being proposed at the Statehouse,” said Rep. Kelly.

The event will provide constituents with a legislative update, as well as an open forum to ask questions and identify community concerns that can be addressed through state government.

State Rep. Brigid Kelly (D-Cincinnati) today announced the upcoming back-to-school Ohio sales tax holiday will take place starting on Friday, August 2 through Sunday, August 4. In 2018, state lawmakers passed legislation making this three-day, back-to-school sales tax holiday a recurring holiday each year.

“The sales tax holiday is a great opportunity to help hardworking Ohio families get ready for the school year while supporting local workers and local businesses,” said Kelly. “Saving money on important and necessary items like clothing and school supplies will make it easier for families to ensure that their children are properly prepared to go back to school."
