COLUMBUS— Today the Ohio State Controlling Board approved funding for the Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program at Wright State University and Antioch College, as well as funding for renovation and repair projects at Wright State University.

The news is welcomed by State Representative Brian Lampton (R-Beavercreek), who advocated for these funds during negotiations over both HB 687 Ohio’s capital budget, and HB 110, the state operating budget.

“Wright State is an excellent institution that keeps improving to give students the best education and opportunities possible,” Lampton said. “I am grateful to the Controlling Board’s continued support for these students.”

Wright State University will be awarded $719,999 from the operating budget to use as part of the Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program, which will be awarded to students in STEM. They will use $205,633 in capital funds to make repairs to the Creative Arts Center to ensure safety to students and $66,800 to renovate the Health College to create a unified location for its various academic units.

Antioch College is set to receive $495,000 from the operating budget for the Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program.

The Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program is designed to strengthen Ohio’s competitiveness in STEM education. It aims to effectively prepare students for the workforce by minimizing a financial barrier and improving retention.
