COLUMBUS—State Representative Brian Baldridge (R-Winchester) today announced that the Shawnee State Park Golf Course will remain open for one more season. Rep. Baldridge worked with Senator Joe Uecker (R-Miami Township) and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) to come to an agreement that allows for the golf course to remain open for an additional season while ODNR begins the process of soliciting public input over the direction and redesign of the park property.
“This is a huge win for the people of Southern Ohio that could not have been accomplished without the leadership of Director Mertz”, said Baldridge. “The decision by the Department of Natural Resources to keep the golf course open for another season while also beginning a public conversation on how we can make the Shawnee State Park even better for residents is the right way to move forward together.”
During this season, the discussion on how best to use this land in the future will begin. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources remains committed to pursuing the best possible use of the land within the Shawnee State Forest and will be excited to proceed with a community driven redesign process.
