COLUMBUS—State Representative Brett Hillyer (R-Uhrichsville) announced today that he has been appointed to the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review by Speaker Larry Householder (R-Glenford) of the Ohio House of Representatives. The appointment was made on January 21, 2019.

“Overbearing regulation hurts everyday Ohioans and businesses. I look forward to constitutional, commonsense rules and regulations for our state,” said Hillyer, who is serving his first term in the General Assembly. “I am thankful for the trust Speaker Householder has shown in me.”

The Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review (JCARR) was created in 1977 by the Ohio General Assembly. The committee consists of five state representatives and five state senators. JCARR’s primary function is to review proposed new, amended, and rescinded rules from over 110 agencies to ensure they do not exceed their rule-making authority granted to them by the General Assembly. If a rule violates one or more of the six criteria established, the JCARR committee could make a recommendation to invalidate the rule.
