COLUMBUS – State Representative Brett Hillyer (R-Uhrichsville) announced that on Monday the State Controlling Board approved the release of $23,016 for upgraded to Founders Hall HVAC upgrades at the Kent State Tuscarawas County branch.

This funding will be allocated to replace the cast iron boiler and multiple electric terminal reheat units within the complex. Additionally, ductwork, piping, electrical reheat coils, and new hydronic pipe terminal units will be installed.

The existing equipment is far past its expected life span and is in need of replacement. When all is said and done this project will reduce the energy use of the building allowing for the Tuscarawas Campus to better function.

“It is imperative that we continue to invest in our students, whether that happens in the classroom or with renovations to the buildings they learn in,” said Hillyer. “I am delighted to see state resources coming to Kent State Tuscarawas.”

The next controlling board meeting is scheduled for March 21.
