Cutrona Supports Local Project Financing and COVID-19 Relief Funding
State Rep. Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) voted to support Senate Bill 310, which will provide continued capital reappropriations financing and federal COVID-19 relief funding. The legislation passed in the Ohio House and Cutrona acknowledged how this support will positively impact the region.
“I had the great opportunity to support the continuing capital reappropriations funding totaling over $16 million in project financing for the Mahoning Valley and CARES distribution to local governments that will help our counties, cities, villages, and townships,” said Cutrona.
Specifically, lots of the continued capital reappropriations projects is going towards Youngstown State University – this includes various renovations and updates to the campus.
Additionally, Mahoning County is set to be distributed a total of $7.4 million to the county, municipalities, and townships for COVID-19 related expenses through the CARES Act. Some of the allocations for local governments include:
- Mahoning County - $3,717,716
- Boardman Township - $502,595
- Canfield City - $70,827
- Canfield Township - $38,597
- Poland Township - $34,286
In total, the legislation appropriates up to $350 million statewide for the COVID-19 related expenses.
The bill was passed by a vote of 87-8 and now heads over to the Senate for concurrence.
