Cutrona Statement on Vandalism at the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church

State Rep. Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) has released the following statement regarding the vandalism at the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church:

“As a member of this church, I am sad and disheartened to see this level of anger and destruction brought upon this peaceful place of worship. Our community and the church should not be subjected to this type of targeted vandalism. While I am appalled at this act, I take solace in knowing the perpetrator has been apprehended and that justice and care will be served in this case. 

“Freedom of religion is protected within our First Amendment of the Constitution in this country, however, moments like these give perspective on how fragile that can be - we cannot take these liberties for granted. As this is a very unfortunate incident, it’s relieving that nobody was injured, hurt or worse in this malicious act. I pray for our community and the church as they rebuild what was destroyed and am certain that our faith will overcome this hate moving forward.”
