A week after his visit from Lordstown Motors, State Rep. Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) made another visit, this time with United States Vice President Mike Pence for the unveiling of the Endurance electric pickup truck.

Cutrona participated in escorting Pence’s motorcade to the facility.

“It was very surreal to be a part of this event today,” said Cutrona. “It was just under a month ago I became a state representative for the Mahoning Valley and now I’m participating in a ceremony marking an economic revival of our region with the Vice President. I’m thankful I got the chance to be a part of our history today as this hopefully marks the beginning of Lordstown Motors’ dedication to the Valley when it comes to economic development and jobs.”

Lordstown Motors CEO, Steve Burns, has said the company intends to eventually hire thousands of people back to the plant. Last year, the General Motors plant was shutting down. Since then, the factory was sold to Lordstown Motors – a startup business with the ambition to build an electric pickup truck, which has now become a reality today.

The Lordstown Endurance is believed to be the world’s first fully-electric pickup truck. Lordstown Motors has set a goal to make the Endurance pickup truck the safest, most economical, and greenest electric pickup truck ever built. The Endurance will be manufactured and assembled at the Lordstown facility.

Lordstown Motors Corp. (LMC), was founded by Burns with the purpose of transforming Ohio’s Mahoning Valley and Lordstown, Ohio into the epicenter of electric-vehicle manufacturing.

“Today’s unveiling is inspiring and just shows Lordstown’s innovation,” said Cutrona. “We need to get jobs back to our area and I’m very much looking forward to watching the plant’s progress on reinvigorating our local economy.”
