State Rep. Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) announces extensive funding for the Boardman Police Department in order to reduce violent crimes within the Boardman and Mahoning County communities. The funding comes out of the Ohio Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program.

“All of this critical funding was made possible through legislation we passed last year down at the Statehouse,” Cutrona said. “I stand with supporting our law enforcement agencies, and this funding coming to the Valley is going to help them keep our communities safe.”

Cutrona supported House Bill 110, the state operating budget, which is funding this program. The program will aid local law enforcement agencies in their various violent crime reduction initiatives, such as officer retention, training, or recruiting.

The Boardman Police Department will receive $628,358 from the grant program.

In total, the program will award nearly $100 million to local law enforcement agencies across the state. So far, the program has awarded funding to 119 law enforcement agencies throughout the state through six rounds. The most recent round of funding is the seventh round and will award $8.5 million to 21 separate agencies, including the Boardman Police Department.
