State Representative Wes Retherford (R-Hamilton) has been appointed by Ohio House Speaker Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) to serve on the Elder Abuse Commission.

The Elder Abuse Commission is facilitated through the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and works to improve education, increase research and raise awareness about elder abuse in the state. Elder abuse can be physical, sexual, verbal and emotional and can include neglect, abandonment and financial exploitation.

Rep. Retherford has and continues to be an advocate on the issue and has championed several bills and initiatives to combat elder abuse.

“It is an honor to be appointed by the Speaker to the Ohio Elder Abuse Commission,” Rep. Retherford said. “I have worked tirelessly since my first year in the legislature to see that the Ohio Elder Justice Act was signed into law. Through the budget this year, I saw that dream become a reality. The fight against abuse and fraud on our elderly population is not over and I look forward to doing my part along with my fellow members of the commission.”
